AAA Editor Notes
Alabama Constitution Village, 109 Gates Ave., marks the site of the 1819 constitutional convention by which Alabama entered the Union. Eight reconstructed buildings depict Southern life in the early 1800s. Costumed guides demonstrate crafts and domestic skills typical of 19th-century Alabama. Santa's Village is set up during the holiday season; lights adorn the historic houses, snow machines make fresh snow nightly, and visitors can make crafts and decorate gingerbread cookies.
