Tenn-Tom Waterway/Tom Bevill Visitor Center

Tenn-Tom Waterway/Tom Bevill Visitor Center is .5 mi. s. of SR 86 on SR 14 at the Tom Bevill Lock and Dam; the visitor center is at 1382 Lock and Dam Rd. By connecting the Tennessee and Tombigbee rivers with a system of locks, this 234-mile canal provides a shortcut to the Gulf of Mexico. The visitor center, built in 19th-century Greek Revival style and furnished in period, features displays about river travel and wildlife. Photographs, models and audiovisual presentations also are presented. A 19th-century cast-iron fountain dominates the garden.
