Prattaugan Museum and Heritage Center, 102 E. Main St. at jct. Chestnut St., is in the 1848 McWilliams-Smith-Rice house. Displays highlight town founder Daniel Pratt and his pilgrimage to Alabama as well as Civil War and World War II history pertaining to Autauga County, including bomb casings that were manufactured in the Gin Shop, the manufacturing history of cotton gins, a medical room and early American living displays. The museum also houses an extensive archive containing genealogical, church and cemetery histories that includes documents and photographs.
