The Mercedes-Benz Visitor Center, just e. off I-59 exit 89 at 11 Mercedes Dr., traces the German company's earliest days as a motorcycle manufacturer in the 1880s to its current standing as a world-renowned automaker. Vehicle displays include vintage automobiles, 1950s racing and sports cars, and concept models. Engineering techniques are highlighted with video presentations and exhibits.
The visitor center is located on the grounds of the company's only U.S. manufacturing plant. A 90-minute plant tour showing the assembly of M-Class sport-utility vehicles is available.
