Goldbelt Mount Roberts Tramway, 490 S. Franklin St. on the cruise ship dock, offers a 5-minute ride to the 1,800-foot level of Mount Roberts. At the top, visitors can stop at the nature center, view native and historical artwork, see a live bald eagle displayed by the Juneau Raptor Center, take wildlife or nature walks to a rainforest and alpine meadow and view the spectacular scenery, including the Chilkat Mountains and Gastineau Channel. Common wildlife sightings from the outlooks include marmots, ravens, eagles, deer, mountain goats, black bear and a variety of song birds. “Seeing Daylight,” a movie about Alaska's native Tlingit, is presented in the Chilkat Theater. Entertainment and demonstrations are offered. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
Fare $32; $16 (ages 6-12).
