Glenbow Museum is at 130 9th Ave. S.E., across from the Calgary Tower. The complex includes a museum, an art gallery, a library and archives. Fascinating men and women who contributed to the development of the province are highlighted in Mavericks: An Incorrigible History of Alberta. Niitsitapiisinni: Our Way of Life features artifacts and interactive displays illustrating Blackfoot traditions and values. Other galleries feature contemporary art exhibitions, exhibits about warriors, gemstones and West Africa. An Asian sculpture gallery and a hands-on art studio also are on site. Food is available. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
$16; $11 (senior citizens and college students with ID); $10 (ages 7-17); $40 (family, two adults and four children).
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 9-5 (also 5-9 first Thurs. of the month), Sun. noon-5, July-Aug.; Tues.-Sat. 9-5 (also 5-9 first Thurs. of the month), Sun. noon-5, rest of year. Closed Christmas.
