Leduc #1 Energy Discovery Centre

Leduc #1 Energy Discovery Centre is 2 km (1.2 mi.) s. on Hwy. 60 at 50339 Hwy. 60 S. The center not only provides insight into the workings of the oil industry but also looks at area history, the story behind Leduc No. 1 and how Canada became self-sufficient in oil production. A 15-minute video presentation, interactive energy displays, geological exhibits, equipment, artifacts, photographs, scale models, murals and an outdoor interpretive trail help explain how oil is produced and refined.

A 53-metre (174 ft.) replica of the original derrick has been erected on the discovery site.

Note: The Living Energy Project, launched in 2016, will demonstrate renewable resources—including geothermal, solar and wind power—when it is completed.
