Fort George and Buckingham House Provincial Historic Site, 13 km (8 mi.) s.e. on Hwy. 646 to 6015 Township Road 565, encompasses the archeological remains of two fur trade forts built in the late 18th century. A scenic interpretive trail complemented by wild flowers—including the rare yellow lady's slipper orchid—allows for closer inspection of the site and its various structural remains. Staff members at the visitor center are available to provide information about the area's heritage and fur trading industry. Educational programs are offered. Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 2 hours minimum.
