Inspector Pick (Location (to sporting venues, shopping, nature, waterfront etc.)): While there are lots of nature adventures to be had, I love that the cabins are just a short walk from a wonderful waterfall.
Located 45 minutes outside of Jasper on the way to the Columbia Icefields, this popular property features several totem poles scattered throughout the grounds. Guest rooms have modest décor. The staff can book a variety of tours, from white-water rafting, helicopter, fishing, birding and canoeing tours to horseback riding. Guests also receive complimentary self-driving tour itineraries. There is a great gift shop on-site.

Cons: Shabby accomodations, junky gift shop, expensive food
Pros: friendly staff, food at the restaurant, gift shop, proximity to the Sunwapta fall
Cons: poor wifi connection
Pros: Real quiet and secluded, even though it's right on the Icefield Parkway. It is facing right to the woods. The chef really rocks! Make sure you dine there. We have had both dinner and breakfast. I wish I could stay there for another night.
Pros: The location of the lodge. Walking distance to the falls
Excellent fall location
Pros: Good staff, excellent location next to falls. Reception and restaurant staff excellent.
Cons: One surely receptionist with a tiring on her face.
Pros: Staff helpful and friendly. Food very enjoyable. Accommodation a little pricey but that is norm for this time of year.
Beautiful location with friendly staff
Pros: Location and friendly staff
Cons: Beds and poor lighting in room. Broken window crank which was not fixed after reporting. No AC.
Would return again just for...
Pros: The food was wonderful! Excellent cook!
Cons: Breakfast was a bit crowded with all of the bus tours stopping in. Although they had an area set aside in the restaurant for hotel guests, they had no tables for five people so we had to sit in the main area which became very crowded.
Nice location but no wifi
Pros: Good location and fairly quiet. Fireplace was nice touch.
Cons: Struggle to get parking spot, need marked bays. Path to room was uneven, dark and mud puddles due to rain. Room floor was sloping.
One night in Sunwapata
Pros: Good location between Jasper and Banff. Very close to the Sunwapta waterfalls.
Cons: Obsolete bathroom (broken bathtub).
Pros: Good location, easy to find right on the highway, thought it might be noisy but no traffic at night! Cosy lodges with modern facilities
Cons: Nothing bad- restaurant is perhaps a bit too formal and not great choice for children.
Pros: A good location to start down the Icefiled Parkway. Well equiped with deli, restaurant and gift shop. Shop walk from Sunwapta falls and the star of some good trails.
Cons: A good 40 min drive out of Jasper so beware if you think you are booking in Jasper.
Sleeping in a bowl.
Pros: On the positive side, the young staff was most cordial and welcoming and genuine in their friendly attitude and desire to please. The restaurant food is pricey but very worthwhile with skillful preparation and good management. Everything is clean. And there is +/- WiFi (as they admit server connection is outside of their control). Stay here if you must. Eat here because you have to and that part of your experience will sit well.
Cons: The location of this hotel is perfect along the Icefield Parkway. It is because of this and that there are no other stay options in the vicinity that the property can charge their precious rate for substandard accommodations. Our room was small, dowdy, poorly it, with a table and two chairs. It has been many moons since I slept in a bowl shaped bed. I have never liked then and still don’t. At the very least the property could use some of the premium tourist dollars it gets to upgrade the bed. Shame, shame, shame.
