Father Lacombe Chapel Provincial Historic Site is just w. of Queen Elizabeth II Hwy. on St. Vital Ave. The log chapel, built by Father Albert Lacombe and local Métis in 1861, is said to be Alberta's oldest building. Guided tours explain the importance of Lacombe and the St. Albert Roman Catholic Mission to the French/Métis community as well as the priest's role as spiritual leader, peacemaker and negotiator in the 1860s. Conducted in English and French, tours include the chapel, crypt, cemetery and grotto.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
