Wetaskiwin & District Heritage Museum is at 5007 50th Ave. Housed in a historic building, the museum depicts local history and includes displays about the military, hospitals, early businesses, and Swedish and Chinese immigrants. The Origins Exhibit offers interactive games as well as such archeological finds as dinosaur fossils and Plains Cree artifacts. Women of Aspenland profiles notable women from the community. A hands-on gallery for children features a one-room schoolhouse, a general store and a pioneer kitchen. Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
Donations. Reservations are required for guided tours.
Hours: Tues.-Sat. 10-5, May-Sept.; Tues.-Fri. 10-5, rest of year. Closed major holidays. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
