The Whitecourt and District Forest Interpretive Centre is 1 km (.6 mi.) e. on Hwy. 43. The center includes multimedia exhibits detailing the role of the forest in the evolution of Whitecourt. Visitors can view a storyboard describing the manufacturing process of wood products, a tepee, and a variety of wood artifacts and tools. Next to the building, Heritage Park re-creates an early 20th-century logging town through a collection of restored buildings and vehicles. Tools and other artifacts from this period also are on display. Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted.
Donations. Reservations are required for guided tours.
Hours: Mon.-Fri. 8:30-6, Sat.-Sun. and holidays 11-6, early June-late Sept.; Mon.-Fri. 8:30-4:30, rest of year. Closed statutory holidays in winter. Allow 30 minutes minimum.
