River of Time Museum, adjacent to the library at 12901 N. La Montana Blvd., includes multimedia displays, historical and cultural programs, and activities educating visitors about the vital role of water in the Lower Verde River Valley. Conditions in this part of the High Sonoran Desert forced such inhabitants as Native American tribes and early ranchers to invent ways to control water. Visitors learn about ancient canals and more recent dam projects as well as the area's developments in housing. The museum also houses a scale model of Fort McDowell.
Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
