Cosanti, 6433 E. Doubletree Ranch Rd., is the studio and workshop of architect-craftsman Paolo Soleri, who came to the area to study with Frank Lloyd Wright. Designated as an Arizona Historic Site, this landmark features experimental earth-formed concrete structures that incorporate terraced landscapes constructed 1956 to 1970. Soleri's prototype urban design, Arcosanti, is based on his philosophy of arcology (architecture plus ecology). Most weekday mornings, visitors can watch bronze pours. Soleri's sculptures and wind bells can be viewed throughout the property.
