AAA Editor Notes
Grand Canyon Skywalk is at the far western end of the Grand Canyon; from Kingman, go north on CR 20 (Stockton Hill Rd.) about 42 mi. to CR 25 (Pierce Ferry Rd.), CR 25 n. about 7 mi. to CR 261 (Diamond Bar Rd.) and Diamond Bar Rd. 21 mi. to Grand Canyon West (the Hualapai Indian tribe's recreation area), an approximate 100-minute drive. Drivers should follow the road to the parking lot by Grand Canyon West Airport.

Staunch environmentalists protested when the Hualapai tribe built this horseshoe-shaped, glass-floored “sky bridge” on their reservation land in 2007. Extending 70 feet out from the canyon rim, the skywalk is suspended 4,000 feet above the canyon bottom and the Colorado River far, far below. Weighing 1.2 million pounds, it's unquestionably an architectural wonder and a unique engineering feat, and the views—as long as you don't suffer from acrophobia—are jaw-dropping. Grand Canyon National Park visitors should keep in mind that the location is remote, easily a 4.5-hour drive from the park's South Rim.

Note: To stroll on the skywalk you must first purchase a Grand Canyon West tour package; the fee includes hop-on, hop-off bus transportation to the skywalk, a faux Native American village, a mock cowboy town and the Guano Point overlook. Personal items are not permitted on the skywalk (free lockers are available for storage). Cameras are strictly prohibited; you will be searched. Allow 2-4 hours minimum to view the skywalk and take the Grand Canyon West tour.

Guided tours are available. Food is available.
