Shemer Art Center and Museum, 5005 E. Camelback Rd., is in the first house built in the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix. Building began in 1919, and after two remodels, was completed in 1928. The restored Santa Fe Mission-style building with adobe walls contains changing exhibits of fine art; seasonal classes also are available. A highlight is the outdoor sculpture garden. The landscaped grounds feature creative orchards.
