Tubac Presidio State Historic Park

Tubac Presidio State Historic Park is off I-19 at 1 Burruel St. Arizona's first state park encompasses the Spanish military site that made Tubac Arizona's first European settlement in 1752. An underground archeological exhibit reveals portions of the captain's house. The museum contains Native American, Spanish, Mexican and American territorial artifacts and the working hand press that printed Arizona's first newspaper in 1859.

Historical buildings include a restored 1885 schoolhouse, a furnished Mexican row house, and Otero Hall, which displays 16 William Ahrendt paintings depicting Arizona history as well as an 1800s horse-drawn vehicle known as an ambulance. A living-history program portraying life in Tubac is offered; phone for information.
