Historic Dyess Colony: Boyhood Home of Johnny Cash is at 110 Center Dr. The Dyess Colony was created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to provide a fresh start for nearly 500 farm families during the Great Depression, including the family of country music legend Johnny Cash. Visitors can learn about the lifestyles of the colonists and how living in the colony influenced Cash and his music, and tour the Cash family home, which has been restored to appear as it did when the family lived there.
