Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is at 239 Turpentine Creek Ln. This animal rescue center specializes in large exotic cats—cougars, leopards, lions and tigers—although visitors can see smaller species of exotic cats, monkeys, a grizzly bear habitat and other assorted wildlife as well. The refuge’s Education Station features exhibits about the biology of big cats including several hands-on displays. Brief descriptions are posted at each animal’s enclosure recounting its life and how it came to be at the refuge. Guided tours of the natural-looking enclosures are available.
