Dallas County Historical Museum is at 221 N. Main St. The museum traces the history of the county. Exhibits include tools and housewares from the early 1900s and photographs of legendary football coach Paul “Bear” Bryant, who attended high school in Fordyce. The museum's Bill Mays Annex, 200 N. Main St., houses the Dallas County Sports Hall of Fame and Museum, which displays memorabilia from Fordyce residents. Note: The museum is open but the annex is temporarily closed for renovations and is expected to reopen in 2015; phone for updates. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.

Hours: Museum open Tues.-Fri. 10-4, Sat. 10-2. Annex open by appointment during museum hours. Closed major holidays.
