MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History is at 503 E. 9th St. Housed in the historic Arsenal Building constructed in 1840 as part of a frontier military post, the museum relates Arkansas’ rich military heritage. The Arsenal Building witnessed pivotal exchanges between Federal and Confederate forces during the Civil War.

In 1880, one of the country’s foremost military heroes, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, was born here while his father was stationed at the arsenal. The museum offers permanent exhibits about the Civil War, World War I and World War II, as well as an exhibit highlighting Arkansas’ Medal of Honor recipients. Temporary exhibits also are offered. An audio tour by cell phone is available.
