1836 Hempstead County Courthouse is in Historic Washington State Park at 409 Franklin St. Washington's schoolhouse from 1875-1914, the building first served as a courthouse and then the seat of Confederate government in Arkansas when Federal troops occupied Little Rock 1863-65.
Admission to park free. Tour site tickets $9; $5 (ages 6-12). Surrey ride $8; $4 (ages 6-12). Sampler tour (choice of two buildings) $6; $3 (ages 6-12). Tickets must be purchased from the visitor center. Pricing may vary with special events.
Hours: Park open daily 8-5. Buildings are closed daily noon-12:30. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
