Blacksmith Shop is in Historic Washington State Park at 600 Conway. This reconstruction of a frontier blacksmith shop commemorates the place where James Black reputedly made the first of what came to be known as Bowie knives. Bowie, who lived in Texas, liked Black's design and bought from him.
Admission to park free. Tour site tickets $9; $5 (ages 6-12). Surrey ride $8; $4 (ages 6-12). Sampler tour (choice of two buildings) $6; $3 (ages 6-12). Tickets must be purchased from the visitor center. Pricing may vary with special events.
Hours: Park open daily 8-5. Buildings are closed daily noon-12:30. Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
