The Glass Factory is on Av. Gen. Juan Alvarez (behind the hospital), a short distance w. of Av. Lázaro Cárdenas (Mex. 1). Multiple teams of glass blowers work in shifts to produce hundreds of pieces of glassware and decorative items every day. Visitors can watch as these artisans melt down recycled bottles, blend the molten liquid with colored chips and blow it into various shapes, and then temper the pieces in glass-fired kilns for 24 hours. This is a popular stop for both locals and tourists to stock up on glassware and accessories. The workers gladly accept tips and in return will answer questions and let you try your hand at glass blowing.
