Cuauhtémoc Brewery (Cervecería Cuauhtémoc) is 6 blks. s. of the border at Dr. Arturo Guerra and Calle Carranza. This is where the famed Tecate beer is brewed. The Tecate logo—a red and gold symbol with a stylized eagle—is a familiar sight throughout Baja. Guided tours begin with an orientation film and then visit various aspects of the brewing process, including stainless steel boiling vats, towering fermentation tanks and a huge room where cans and bottles fly by at light speed.
Visitors wear safety glasses and headphones, and the tour guides provide entertaining narration not only about beer production but about Tecate history. At the end of the tour each person receives a ticket for one free beer in the beer garden.
Tours are offered in both Spanish and English; specify your preference when setting up an appointment. Cameras, cell phones and other personal items are not permitted inside the production facility. Closed-toe shoes must be worn.
