Portraits of Queen Victoria, Sir Thomas Gates, William Herbert, Sir Edwin Sandys, King George III and Queen Charlotte are of special interest. Sculptures and war memorials are on the grounds: highlights include “The Cenotaph,” honoring local members of the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and British Army who died during World Wars I and II; and a bronze statue of Sally Bassett erected in 2009 to memorialize the struggles of local slaves.
