On the edge of downtown overlooking the harbor, this hotel has an illustrious past. There are many guest unit options to choose from including the posh 'gold' wing. Many rooms include a balcony, Due to the historical nature of the hotel the bathrooms are compact however the upscale appointments and extra amenities will impress. Enjoy the infinity pool that looks out on the picturesque harbor or hop on the property shuttle to the private beach club that features three different beaches. The beach club is open from April to October. Meets AAA guest room security requirements. Smoke free premises. 400 units. 3-7 stories, interior corridors. Accessibility (Call).

Pros: Location, location, location......the front desk staff.......ferry to Southampton....the housekeeping staff....the "1609" bar....The lobby staff....

Pros: Friendly staff, very willing to serve/help. Comfortable room and facilities.
Cons: Bed was quite soft and springy. Ongoing renovations and disconnection with Fairmont Southampton meant some things were unavailable.

Weather was great - good...
Pros: I had asked/requested early check in 1:00 - 2:00 PM. We arrived at 3:00 PM, room was not ready until almost 5:00 PM. Front desk representatives - not up to par. Little to no service Wait staff - indifferent, missing drink orders, timing of courses off, could not get a pot of tea in the morning w/out requesting one three times. Restaurant 1690 - missing drink orders, timing of services. This is a British colony! Marcus was the exception, excellent service. No pool drink service, had to go inside to the lounge area and ask for service. All 5 days. Lost opportunity for the hotel. Spa was wonderful as was fitness center. Concierge service - terrific.
Cons: Front desk service was lacking. Pool side service was missing, had to go inside tp request drink orders. Wait staff also lacking - missing orders, drinks never arriving. W/built in gratuities, no incentive to provide service.
