Burnaby Village Museum & Carousel is off Hwy. 1 Kensington Ave. S. exit to 6501 Deer Lake Ave. The 4-hectare (10-acre) village re-creates the sights and sounds of an 1890-1925 settlement in lower mainland British Columbia. Costumed townspeople welcome visitors to more than 30 shops and homes, including a print shop and schoolhouse. A restored 1912 Parker carousel is on the site. The Heritage Christmas celebration from late November to early January features carolers, entertainment, crafts and a chat with Father Christmas. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Free. Carousel rides $2.55.
Hours: Tues.-Sun. 11-4:30, early May-early Sept. Heritage Christmas Mon.-Fri. 1-5:30, Sat.-Sun. 1-9, late Nov. to mid-Dec.; daily 1-9, mid-Dec. through Jan. 1. Spring Break Scavenger Hunt daily noon-4, for 12 days in mid-Mar. Closed Christmas Eve and Christmas.
