Pacific Northwest Raptor Visitor Centre 5 km (3 mi.) n. on Trans-Canada Hwy. 1 and 4 km (2 mi.) w. on 1877 Herd Rd. Birds of prey, some captive bred and others non-releasable, can be seen up close and personal at this facility. Those born in captivity are allowed to fly outside their pens during the day, returning home at night. Birds such as hawks, bald eagles, owls and falcons can be seen in daily flying demonstrations. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
$14; $12 (ages 13-17 and 65+); $7 (ages 3-12); $40 (family, two adults and two children); $45 (family, two adults and three children).
Hours: Center open daily 11-4:30, Apr.-Sept.; daily noon-3, in Mar. and Oct.; Thurs.-Sun. noon-3, Nov.-Dec. Demonstrations are given daily at 1:30 and 3:30, Victoria Day weekend-Labour Day; daily at 1:30, early Mar.-day before Victoria Day weekend and day after Labour Day-Sept. 30.
