Kitimat Museum & Archives, 293 City Centre, documents the human and natural history of the Kitimat Valley and the Douglas Channel through displays of artifacts, photographs, fossils, taxidermy specimens, maps and furniture. Highlights include collections that depict early settlement by homesteaders, trappers, prospectors and Haisla First Nations, the story of the Alcan Project, and paintings and wood carvings by local artists.
Hours: Mon.-Sat. 10-5, June-Aug.; Mon.-Fri. 10-4, Sat. noon-4, rest of year. Closed Dec. 25-Jan.1 and major holidays.
