AAA Editor Notes

The Eye of the Wind is on top of Grouse Mountain at 6400 Nancy Greene Way. This 65-metre (215-ft.) wind turbine on the mountaintop is reportedly the only one in the world that allows you to stand in a glass viewPOD at the top of the tower (just 10 feet from its massive, rotating blades), giving an awe-inspiring 360-degree view of Vancouver, the harbor, the Coastal Mountains and, on a clear day, mounts Baker, Rainier and Garibaldi. The turbine provides approximately 20 percent of Grouse Mountain's energy requirement. Food is available.
The Eye of the Wind tour (includes Grouse Mountain and chair lift) $58.95; $54.95 (ages 65+); $39.95 (ages 13-18); $15.95 (ages 5-12); $140.95 (family, two adults and two children). Various combination tours are also available. Fares may vary; phone ahead. Reservations are recommended.
Hours: Grouse Mountain open daily 9:45 a.m.-10 p.m. The Eye of the Wind drop-in visits daily 10:30-8, mid-May to mid-Oct. Eye of the Wind tours available mid-May to mid-Oct. Phone ahead to confirm schedule. Allow 1 hour minimum.
