AAA Editor Notes

The Eye of the Wind is on top of Grouse Mountain at 6400 Nancy Greene Way. This 65-metre (215-ft.) wind turbine on the mountaintop is reportedly the only one in the world that allows you to stand in a glass viewPOD at the top of the tower (just 10 feet from its massive, rotating blades), giving an awe-inspiring 360-degree view as well as a face-to-face encounter with the future of responsible energy. The turbine provides approximately 20 percent of Grouse Mountain's energy requirement. One-hour guided tours provide information about sustainability and take visitors by elevator to the glassed-in observation deck (part of the floor is also glass) where they are rewarded with 360-degree views of Vancouver, the harbor, the Coastal Mountains and, on a clear day, mounts Baker, Rainier and Garibaldi. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
