Osoyoos Desert Centre is 2.9 km (1.9 mi.) n. of jct. hwys. 3 and 97, then 1.2 km (.7 mi.) w. to 14580 146th Ave. The 26.8-hectare (67-acre) nature interpretive facility is within the northern outpost of the Great Basin Desert, part of the vast Sonoran Desert that extends from Washington south into Mexico which contains an amazing variety of plants and animals, including some species not found anywhere else in Canada.
In addition to hands-on exhibits and a native plant demonstration garden, visitors can take a guided or self-guiding tour along a 1.5-kilometre (1-mi.) elevated boardwalk.
Pets are not permitted on the boardwalk; a pet-sitting service is available.
Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
