Maritime Discovery Centre is on the waterfront at 2750 Harbour Rd. The area's maritime history is documented at this museum, which was built from a coastal lighthouse. Highlights include exhibits about the history of lighthouses; tsunamis and the 1964 tidal wave; life as a lighthouse keeper; and rescue stories, including a heroic attempt by a keeper's wife to rescue a ship in distress. Also available to view is the harbor, where boats launch and workers pack or unload cargo.
