Cottonwood House Historic Site is 28 km (17 mi.) e. on Hwy. 26. Cottonwood was built 1864-65 as a roadhouse for travelers on the Cariboo Wagon Road en route to the gold fields of Barkerville. The 11-hectare (26-acre) site includes a double barn, stable, animals, guesthouse, outbuildings and antique machinery. Costumed interpreters provide tours of Cottonwood House and wagon rides. A walking trail winds along the river.
Site admission free. Wagon rides $3.81; $3.33 (ages 65+); $2.38 (ages 7-13).
Hours: Thurs.-Mon. 8-5, Tues.-Wed. 10-5, mid-May through Labour Day.
