Haida Heritage Centre at Kaay Llnagaay

Haida Heritage Centre at Kaay Llnagaay is just n. of the BC Ferries terminal on Second Beach Rd. The center, on the site of the old Haida seaside village of Kaay Llnagaay, celebrates the relationship of the Haida people with the land and examines, through audiovisuals and interactive displays, Haida art, history and culture.
Traditional totem poles representing the 14 clans front the facility; three ancient poles are inside. A canoe house, a performing house and a carving shed also may be seen. The Haida Gwaii Museum includes exhibits about plants and wildlife as well as the Haida's belief in the natural and supernatural. A collection of argillite carvings and contemporary art is showcased.
Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
