Sooke Region Museum & Visitor Centre is 1 km (.6 mi.) e. on Hwy. 14 at 2070 Phillips Rd. Exhibits about native peoples, early settlers and industrialization illustrate the history and economy of the west coast region. The 1870 Moss Cottage depicts late 19th-century family life and the Upstairs Gallery relates local agricultural history. Visitors can see a 1910 lighthouse relocated from Cape Scott on Vancouver Island's northern tip. Documentary films are shown. In the summer, there’s a night market on Thursdays from 5-8, and an annual salmon barbecue is held on a Sunday in June; reservations are required.

Guided tours are available. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
