Beaty Biodiversity Museum is at 2212 Main Mall on the University of British Columbia campus. This natural history museum exhibits more than 2 million specimens divided among six collections: the Cowan Tetrapod Collection, The Herbarium, the Spencer Entomological Collection, the Fish Collection, the Marine Invertebrate Collection and the Fossil Collection. A highlight is Canada's largest blue whale skeleton, which is suspended in the museum's two-story glass atrium. Note: Pay parking is available at the Health Sciences Parkade, one block south across East Mall, and near the UBC Bookstore. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
$12; $10 (ages 13-17, ages 65+ and non-UBC students with ID); $8 (ages 5-12); $35 (family, two adults and up to four children under 18). Combination ticket (UBC Museums and Gardens Pass) with UBC Botanical Garden, UBC Museum of Anthropology and Nitobe Memorial Garden $33; $28 (ages 13-17, ages 65+ and non-UBC students with ID); $85 (family, two adults and up to four children).
Hours: Tues.-Sun. 10-5. Guided tours are given daily at 3 (also Sat.-Sun. at 11:30). Closed Christmas.
