UBC Botanical Garden is at 6804 S.W. Marine Dr. More than 10,000 plants from around the world are cultivated on 28 hectares (69 acres). Themed gardens include Asian, alpine, perennial, food, medicinal and native plantings. Within the Asian garden is the Greenheart Canopy Walkway, a 308-metre (1,010-ft.) aerial trail through a West Coast forest canopy. Guided tours take participants across eight bridges more than 15 metres (49 ft.) above ground level to view plants and animals that live in this environment. Nitobe Memorial Garden, one of the most accurately represented Japanese gardens in North America, features a tea garden and stroll garden with seasonal displays of irises, Japanese maples and flowering cherries. Pets are not permitted. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
Main garden $9; $7 (ages 13-17, ages 65+ and non-UBC students with ID); $5 (ages 5-12); $21 (family, two adults and up to four children). Nitobe Memorial Garden $7; $5.50 (ages 13-17, ages 65+ and non-UBC students with ID); $4 (ages 5-12); $16 (family, two adults and up to four children). There is an additional fee for the Greenheart Canopy Walkway. Combination ticket (UBC Museums and Gardens Pass) with Beaty Biodiversity Museum, Nitobe Memorial Garden and UBC Museum of Anthropology $33; $28 (ages 13-17, ages 65+ and non-UBC students with ID); $85 (family, two adults and four children). Parking: free for 3 hours, then $2 per hour (maximum $6 per day).
