Helmcken House

Helmcken House is on the grounds of the Royal BC Museum. One of the oldest houses in British Columbia still on its original site, the 1852 log structure was the home of John Sebastian Helmcken, a surgeon for Hudson's Bay Co. at Fort Victoria and a Father of Confederation. The restored house displays many original furnishings and an impressive collection of period medical instruments.
