Maritime Museum of British Columbia, 744 Douglas St., details the province’s maritime heritage and culture from the First Peoples and pirates to shipwrecks and 20th-century exploration. Highlights from the museum's large collection include detailed 9-foot shipbuilders' models, maps, navigation instruments, charts, photographs, a research center and a library, Visitors can learn about CPR steamships, try a hand at a monkey fist knot, and test different styles of anchors to see which one holds the best.
