Maritime Museum of British Columbia is at 28 Bastion Sq. The Pacific Northwest's maritime heritage is presented in nine galleries containing ship models, figureheads, ships' tools and naval uniforms. Also featured is the 1860 Tilikum, an 11-metre (36-ft.) dugout canoe converted to a schooner, which sailed from Victoria to England 1901-04 and the Trekka, the smallest vessel to circumnavigate the world in 1959.
Note: The museum is closed; at press time, there are plans to reopen at another location in 2016.
