Maritime Museum of British Columbia, 634 Humboldt St., details the province’s maritime history from the First Peoples and pirates to shipwrecks and 20th-century exploration. Highlights from the museum's large collection include detailed 9-foot shipbuilders' models, maps, navigation instruments, charts, photographs, a research center and a library.

Daily 10-5, Victoria Day-Labour Day; Tues.-Sat. 10-4, rest of year. Closed Christmas. Allow 1 hour minimum.
