Scout Island Nature Center is off Hwy. 97 just e. of jct. Hwy. 20, s. on McKenzie Ave., then e. on Borland Rd. Nature trails lead to views of Williams Lake. The island and marsh are prime nesting grounds for migratory birds. A nature house offers interactive displays, a marsh aquarium and a beehive. A viewing platform on the roof provides a vista of the marsh and valley. Walking trails, interpretive signs and an arboretum are on-site.

Hours: Grounds daily dawn-dusk. Nature house daily 3-5, May-Aug.; Sat.-Sun. 3-5, Sept.-Oct. Phone ahead to confirm schedule; the center may close for school classes.
