Humboldt State University Natural History Museum, 1242 G St. in the Figuerido's Building, exhibits almost 2,000 animal and plant specimens from around the world, local natural history displays and fossils dating from 500 million years ago. Exhibits, which change periodically, include a 60-gallon tide pool tank; local salamanders, toads, turtles and snakes; a dire wolf jaw fossil; a 50 million-year-old fish skeleton; bees; birds of the Redwoods; Western minerals and ores; butterflies; and Pacific seashells.
$6; $3 (ages 3-17 and 60+); $15 (family, two adults and up to four children).
