Tule Elk State Natural Reserve, 3 mi. w. of I-5 off Stockdale Hwy. at 8653 Station Rd., protects 956 acres and a herd of Tule elk. The elk can be observed best in the viewing area near park headquarters. A visitor center offers natural history displays and information about the Tule elk. Guided tours are available. Picnicking is permitted.
$8 (per private vehicle).
Hours: Reserve open daily 8-dusk. Guided Auto Safari Tours are offered the fourth Sun. of the month at 11 (also second Sat. at 11, Jan.-Oct.). Phone ahead to confirm schedule.
