AAA Editor Notes
Red Rock Canyon State Park is 25 mi. n.e. via SR 14. Red, brown and gray sandstone cliffs have eroded into spectacular shapes. The colorful formations served as landmarks for freight wagons that stopped at the canyon's springs. Included in this desert community are Joshua trees, cholla cactus, golden eagles, desert tortoises and coyotes. A visitor center provides information about geology and history, and a pamphlet for a self-guiding half-mile nature trail is available.
Pets on leash are allowed. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted.
