Coronado Museum of History and Art is at 1100 Orange Ave. Housed in a 1910 bank building, the museum uses interactive displays, vintage photographs, period clothing and other memorabilia to relate the island’s history. Individual galleries are devoted to city history, the U.S. Navy and Army presence in the community and the legendary Hotel del Coronado. A third gallery hosts traveling exhibits. Guided tours of the area and the Hotel del Coronado are available. Guided tours are available. Food is available. Time: Allow 1 hour minimum.
$5; $3 (ages 65+ and active military with ID); free (ages 0-16). Hotel del Coronado Tour $20; free (ages 0-11). Museum and Coronado Heritage Walk $15.
Hours: Mon.-Fri. 9-5, Sat.-Sun. 10-5. Tours of Hotel del Coronado depart Mon., Wed. and Fri. at 10:30, Sat.-Sun. at 2. The Coronado Heritage Walk departs Wed. at 10:30. Reservations are required for tours. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
