Ocean Institute, 24200 Dana Point Harbor Dr., contains sea-life exhibits. Marine biologists conduct several types of wildlife cruises aboard the research vessel Sea Explorer and the tall ship Spirit of Dana Point; dolphins, sea lions and whales may be seen in season. Guided tours of another tall ship, the Pilgrim, are offered by docents donning historical garb. A bioluminescence night cruise also is available.

Wildlife cruises lasting 2.5 hours depart most Sat.-Sun. at 10 a.m., and a 2-hour night cruise departs at 8 p.m. Tall-ship tours aboard the Pilgrim are given most Sun. 10-2:30. Closed major holidays.
