AAA Editor Notes

San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park is at 15808 San Pasqual Valley Rd. The park commemorates an important 1846 battle in the Mexican War. A small museum on a bluff overlooking the rolling San Pasqual Valley describes the battle with displays of maps, drawings and historic items from the period including a U.S. Army uniform. Using a pamphlet available at the museum, visitors can follow a self-guiding 1-mile loop nature trail. A bronze monument near the museum is dedicated to the battle. Note: Due to budget cuts California is closing many of its state parks. This facility may be one of those sites; phone ahead for the latest information. Picnicking is permitted. Time: Allow 30 minutes minimum.
Free.
Hours: Sat.-Sun. 10-5, May-Oct.; 10-4, rest of year. Closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
