Museum of History in Granite is off I-8 exit 164 (Sidewinder Rd.), then w. on Center of the World Dr. Brace yourself for the short version of a one-of-a-kind story. Jacques-André Istel had the notion that the center of the world should be in Felicity, and he had it so deemed, but in order to persuade others in his vision, he wrote a children's book in 1985 to set the scene: “Coe the Good Dragon at the Center of the World.” Felicity became an official town the next year. Istel's project has seen the addition of pretty random parts: a 21-foot pyramid with a plaque marking the center of the world, a sundial, a 25-foot section from the original staircase from Paris' Eiffel Tower, the Church on the Hill and the Museum of History in Granite. This museum consists of engraved panel after engraved panel depicting text and illustrations relaying all aspects of history. Guided tours are available.
Self-guiding tour $3. Guided tour $5.
Hours: Daily 10-5 (Arizona time), year-round. Guided tours are only available Thanksgiving-Mar. 31.
