Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Complex has two entrances. The W. Main Street entrance is just s. from SR 1: turn w. onto W. Main St./SR 166, go 5 mi. through the entrance gate and continue to the parking lot. The Oso Flaco Lake entrance is n. from SR 1: turn w. on Oso Flaco Lake Rd. and drive 3 mi. to parking lot. Oso Flaco Lake is a freshwater coastal lake with a boardwalk.

The complex is an 18-mile stretch of coastal dunes, the highest reaching 500 feet, making them the highest beach dunes on the West Coast. Depending upon the time of year, inhabitants include the California least tern, the California brown pelican, the Western snowy plover and the black-shouldered kite. The 1923 Cecil B. DeMille silent film spectacular “The Ten Commandments” was filmed here. Artifacts from the set are displayed.

Lake picnicking is permitted. Dogs are prohibited.
