Mount San Jacinto State Park, 13,522 acres at the e. edge of San Bernardino National Forest, w. of Palm Springs and n. of Idyllwild, encompasses the state park and a wilderness area. Crowned by 10,834-foot Mount San Jacinto, it is a popular area for backpacking. Other park activities include hiking, camping, picnicking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, rock climbing and bird-watching. Hiking permits are available at any ranger station.

Recreational activities are permitted. Camping is permitted. Picnicking is permitted. Food is available.
